Jikiden Reiki Practitioner - If you are living with pain you shouldn't be

 Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?

Reiki (ray-kee) is the great art of healing with the hands which originated in Japan. Prior to the outlawing of all 'alternative' medicines by the United States after the war, Reiki was a very popular and successful treatment. The term Reiki, usually translated as 'Universal energy,' can be better understood by looking at the traditional Kanji characters and their meaning.

Literally translated like this, reiki practitioners are mediums by which energy 'rained' from above can be channelled through.

What exactly is Jikiden Reiki and why is it different?

Jikiden Reiki (Jikiden meaning 'directly communicated or passed down') is a type of Reiki that is free from western influence, and is as close to the original Japanese form as possible. Many say that their experience of Jikiden Reiki is very different from previous experiences of the western style.During Reiki's journey westwards much of the background information passed on with the original teachings was changed, theories added, and unfortunately, sections left out. Does it really work?

Far from being just a relaxing therapy, Jikiden Reiki has a history of success in treating many different chronic illnessess and ailments. I cannot stress enough that Jikiden Reiki really works...clients do not need to alter their belief systems for it to have effect. It is a practical, simple treatment and natural pain reliever. More serious illnesses will obviously take longer to treat, but the effects will last, as it is not a pallative cure like most modern medicines. If all doctors can offer you is a lifetime of medication or risky surgery to alleviate your symptoms, please give Jikiden Reiki a try, you will not be disappointed!

How does it work?

As the original Kanji characters suggest, Jikiden Reiki practitioners are trained to channel and emit high levels of Ki (energy). This can be felt from the palms as intense heat, magnetism and pulsing. As acupuncture uses needles, Reiki uses ki emitted from the palms to unblock toxins that prevent the clients smooth flow of Ki around the bodies' meridians. Pain or symptoms arise when blockages in the natural flow of Ki occur.Jikiden Reiki practitioners are also trained to be able to sense where these blockages or 'Byosen' are in the body, through differing sensations in the palms. Hands are therefore placed on the required areas, and anywhere else from where the pain may be referred.

What have you personally had experience in treating?

I have personal experience of over a hundred hours of treatments on over seventy different people. During this time Jikiden Reiki has successfully healed sciatica when all doctors could offer was painkillers, diabetic frozen shoulder after cortisone injections and other treatments did not work for two weeks, condition was gone a day after the first treatment, dislocated elbow and exposed ulnar nerve wherby after the operation the client's joint had calcified, she had very little and painful movement in her arm (unable to straighten injured arm), physiotherapists could not help and all doctors could do was to prescribe painkillers for the rest of her life and said she would need several elbow transplants! After regular sessions of Jikiden reiki, my client is now off medication, has full use of her arm, and certainly does not need an elbow transplant! Please feel free to contact her to confirm this! I have also treated my brother, Dr Nigel Giam, who is a highly respected doctor and medical lecturer. Earlier this year he was hit by a lorry, breaking both his legs. The next day I treated him in hospital as the morphine and other painkillers did not react well with him at all and he felt he could not take them. Jikiden Reiki eased the pain in both his legs, through the cast. Please feel free to contact him to confirm this.
I have also successfully treated symptoms arising from tendinitis, sports injuries, back injuries, arthritis, migraines, diabetes, shoulder and neck problems, knee and elbow injuries, verrucas, heat rash, chest infections and colds. Plus a whole range of emotional issues such as work stress, anxiety, panic attacks and addictions. It is important to remember that emotional stress can often appear as physical symptoms too. I am willing to attempt to treat any symptom or illness, and have great faith that Jikiden Reiki will benefit any health problems.

What exactly happens during a treatment?

During a treatment, clients lie fully clothed on a professional massage table, either face up or down depending on the areas being treated. Treatment usually starts with the head. Hands are placed on the forehead, the temples, back of the head and crown until the practitioner feels the ‘byosen’ ease. Then hands are placed on the affected areas. If for example a client comes in with a sore lower back, treatment would be concentrated there. Clients usually feel sensations such as intense heat in the areas where palms are laid, magnetism and pulsing.Hands will never be laid in sensitive and private areas.

How and why is Jikiden Reiki's approach to healing different to modern medicine's?

The human body is an incredible and complex structure, with the ability to be highly intelligent both consciously and subconsciously. Think about when you cut yourself, immediately without you consciously directing your body to do so, it will begin to try and stem the flow of blood. First, there's the inflammatory phase, when your skin goes into overdrive to prevent further damage. The blood vessels narrow, and the blood coming out of the wound clots to stop the flow. Your body releases a flood of chemicals that start the healing process, and specialized cells clear the wound of debris over the next several days. This shows that when there is something wrong the human body will naturally try to heal itself. This is also the case when the body has a virus, it will attempt to expel it through coughing, sneezing and phlegm etc. The more we rely on taking medication as soon as we start feeling these, or any other symptoms, the weaker our natural defense and immune systems will become. The body is also intelligent enough to send messages to you when there is a problem that needs attention, by giving you a pain in that area. To me it seems that we live in a society where pills and medication have taken the place of body wisdom…we have a pain, we cover it up with medication instead of realizing that we have a pain for a reason, and covering it up instead of actually dealing with it will only make it worse in the long term.
Unlike medication, Jikiden Reiki brings toxins stored in the body to the surface, unblocking meridians and allowing the bodies’ Ki to flow more smoothly, easing pain as it does so. In this sense, the reiki enables the body to heal itself. And it is essential to remember that no one is better prepared to heal you than yourself. A good diet, exercise, meditation and the ability to deal with stress can all go a long way to help keeping the body trouble free.

How quickly does one expect to see results?

This depends on numerous factors. For one, how serious the symptom is. Some symptoms arise from years of bad habits, and will not disappear overnight. It also depends on the person…everyone has different recovery times for different ailments. That said, in my experience, someone with a very sore lower back for example could expect to see a significant reduction in pain after 90 minutes of treatment. I have also found that reiki speeds up recovery time notably, for example chest infections that have hung round for weeks would generally be on their way out after one session.

I am sick and not able to travel, do you do home visits?

Yes, I have a portable table if needed, and only need my hands!

Are pregnant ladies and children safe to have reiki?

Without exception yes! Jikiden Reiki is ideal for pregnant ladies and others not wanting to take medication for any reason. Reiki has also proven very effective in stopping bedwetting in children.

How about animals?

Again, reiki is fine and very beneficial to animals too. I have experience treating dogs and cats for various ailments.

What is your reiki lineage?

My reiki lineage is: Usui Sensei -

                              Hayashi Sensei -

Yamaguchi Sensei - (Chiyoko + Tadao)

Objectives

The objectives of the Jikiden Reiki Institute are:
  • To publish books illustrating its effectiveness and documenting peoples experiences of Jikiden Reiki
  • To enable people to use Jikiden Reiki as an effective complement to conventional medical care
  • To educate doctors, nurses and other health professionals in the effectiveness of Jikiden Reiki, thereby initiating its use in the conventional medical field.
  • To introduce the use of Jikiden Reiki as the method of medical care in the household. This should help to stop dependence on everyday allopathic remedies and conventional drugs. The ultimate objective here is twofold; i) Firstly people will become healthier as their bodies start to remember how to heal themselves without external chemical substances. ii) Secondly there will be significant reduction in the amount of medical waste, a positive effect on the environment on a global scale.
